Kwik Cricket Girls County Finals
The Oakfield team, consisting of Abi, Hollie, Imogen, Lillie, Olivia, Tannah, Taya and Thea took part in the Kwik Cricket Finals at Epsom College on Wednesday.
The girls were amazing; they are all very new to the game, but what they lacked in batting and bowling skills was made up for in their determination and concentration. Their running between the wickets was outstanding - risky and scary, but mostly successful!
They played 7 matches with everyone bowling, batting and fielding. They won three matches and lost four, with most of the runs against them being given away by 'wides' and 'no-balls'. This was a young team though so hopefully this can be rectified by next year. Our batters did score a considerable number of 4's and 6's!
Several of our opponents were County players, or from very strong clubs, nevertheless all the girls played with unwavering enthusiasm until the last ball had been bowled. To me they are all winners!
